Palatinose Approved by EU

Palatinose, a new functional carbohydrate from Palatinit, Mannheim, Germany, has been approved by the European Commission for use in the European Union (EU) in all foods and beverages, according to a commission decision announced in late July. Palatinose has also achieved generally recognized as safe (GRAS) status, which makes it suitable for use in foods and beverages in the U.S. Palatinose, also known under the generic name isomaltulose, is a unique sugar that can help reduce the low glycemic and low insulin response of foods.
